State budget for 2019 envisages UAH 101 bln for Defense Ministry

The ministry stated this following information request from Ukrinform.

"According to the finance department of the Defense Ministry of Ukraine, the draft law on the state budget of Ukraine for 2019, approved by the Cabinet of Ministers on September 15, 2018, envisages UAH 101.4 billion for the Defense Ministry. In particular, UAH 8 billion for the SSTS [State Special Transport Service], which was attached to the Defense Ministry in 2018,” reads the report.

According to the report, the indicated amount of UAH 101.4 billion is planned to be distributed as follows: UAH 100.1 billion will be directed to the general fund, UAH 1.3 billion to the special fund.

"Compared with 2018, expenditures totaling UAH 101.4 billion were increased by UAH 14.8 billion or 17% (from UAH 86.6 billion)," according to the ministry.

In addition, the draft state budget for the next year envisages the increase in financial assistance for servicepersons, provided by the president’s decree approved in September. This is decree No.823/218 ‘On the decision of the National Security and Defense Council as of September 6, 2018, ‘On proposals to the draft law on the state budget of Ukraine for 2019’ regarding articles related to the security and defense."

According to the ministry, among the priorities of funding in 2019 are the following: an increase in the amount of financial support for the military, the provision of troops with modern weapons and equipment, and the logistical support for the military, primarily those participating in the Joint Force Operation.
