National Guard to expand cooperation with gendarmerie of Turkey and Romania

The National Guard of Ukraine will expand cooperation with Italy's carabinieri and the gendarmerie of Turkey and Romania in the field of training of troops.

Commander of the National Guard of Ukraine, Colonel-General Yurii Allerov, stated this in his speech at the Summit of Directors and Commanders of the International Association of Gendarmeries and Police forces with military status (FIEP), which took place in Antalya (Turkey), the press service of the Interior Ministry reports.

"In particular, he [Allerov] agreed with the Commanders of Turkish Gendarmerie, Italian Carabinieri and Romanian Gendarmerie on expanding cooperation in the field of training of special forces, public order protection and mountain patrol units, as well as cooperation between educational institutions and centers,” reads the report.

Also, during the summit, negotiations were held regarding possible cooperation between the National Guard of Ukraine and the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee, the National Guard of Portugal and the National Guard of Kuwait.

FIEP is an international association of national gendarmeries or affiliated corps and police forces with military status. Today, FIEP includes Gendarmerie and Police forces institutions of France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Turkey, the Netherlands, Morocco, Romania, Jordan, Tunisia, Palestine and Ukraine. Also, law enforcement institution of Argentina, Chile, Qatar and Brazil that do not meet the geographical requirements are associate members. The National Gendarmerie of Djibouti has a temporary observer status.

The National Guard of Ukraine became a full member of the Association FIEP in October 2017.
