Australia to provide financial assistance to Ukraine for rehabilitation of wounded soldiers

Australia will provide 250,000 Australian dollars for the development of medical and sport rehabilitation of wounded servicepersons.

The press service of the Defense Ministry of Ukraine reported this following a meeting of Defense Ministers of Ukraine and Australia Stepan Poltorak and Christopher Pine.

"Today, October 25, during the working visit to Canberra, Defense Minister Stepan Poltorak met with the Australian Minister of Defense to reach an important agreement on the allocation of 250,000 Australian dollars (over 194,000 US dollars) for the development of  medical and sport rehabilitation of wounded servicepersons,” reads the report.

According to the Defense Ministry, the assistance will help improve professional skills of specialists of the medical service of the Armed Forces, update the equipment of Ukrainian medical institutions for the rehabilitation of soldiers wounded in combat actions in eastern Ukraine.

The ministry also added that the Australian Defense Minister said he is impressed by the results of the Ukrainian soldiers participating in the international sports competition Invictus Games in Sydney.
