Vice PM Zubko: About 30% of Ukraine’s territory requires humanitarian demining

"Demining concerns only the east of the country or emergencies and fires at ammunition depots. We talk about a comprehensive humanitarian demining which is carried out by the units of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine on the territories and areas of former combat operations, former military firing ranges contaminated with explosive objects. Almost 30% of the territory of Ukraine needs humanitarian demining," Vice Prime Minister - Minister of Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Communal Services Hennady Zubko said at a meeting of the operational headquarters of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, the Government portal reports.

As Zubko noted, since the beginning of 2018, the special units of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine detected, removed and destroyed more than 44,500 explosive objects, including 613 aerial bombs, throughout the territory of Ukraine (including the liberated territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions).
