The Ukrainian Armed Forces have completely restored the contact line and stability after an attack by pro-Russian militants on Ukrainian positions near the village of Zholobok in Luhansk region, in which four Ukrainian soldiers were killed.

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said this while opening an exhibition of modern models of weapons, military equipment and other material and technical means on Mykhailivska Square in Kyiv on Thursday, according to an Ukrinform correspondent

"The Russians, insidiously violating the truce, the Minsk Agreements, are trying to attack the positions of our troops, but our army and our Armed Forces are already different. From a report by General Nayev, commander of the Joint Forces, which has just been announced, stability [after the attack near the village of Zholobok] has been restored. Ukrainian land is protected, and the people of Ukraine can firmly rely on the Armed Forces of the state," Poroshenko said.

He said that at 06.00, pro-Russian militants, supported by artillery, attacked the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces near the village of Zholobok in Luhansk region.

"Four Ukrainian heroes gave their lives in order to protect Ukrainian land, and seven were injured. Regrouping on time, returning fire, and using reserves, the attack was repulsed and the contact line was completely restored," Poroshenko said.

He said that Ukrainian soldiers had killed eight militants and wounded 11 more.
