Ukraine’s Emergency Service, Denmark sign declaration of intent on demining in eastern Ukraine
The parties signed a joint declaration of intent on demining in eastern Ukraine, the press service of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine reports.
"Signing of the declaration of intent will be a new stage in the mobilization of resources to support the activities of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in eastern Ukraine. Providing assistance to the Service in their mission to protect civilians from mines and explosive remnants of war left as a result of the conflict, the Danish Demining Group hopes to help residents return to their homes without fear of unexploded ordnance as soon as possible," said Henry Leach, the head of the Danish Demining Group's program in Ukraine.
The participants discussed the implementation of the project “Preparation and Involvement of Pyrotechnic Units of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Humanitarian Demining”, launched by the Danish Refugee Council in Ukraine and funded by the Office of Weapons Removal and Abatement of the Political-Military Affairs Bureau at the U.S. Department of State. The project is designed for two years.
