Poltorak in Brussels meets with UK Secretary of State for Defense

Spokesperson for the Ukrainian Defense Ministry Dmytro Hutsuliak said this at a briefing at the ministry’s press center.

“Defense Minister of Ukraine Stepan Poltorak has met with Gavin Williamson, UK Secretary of State for Defense on the sidelines of NATO Summit in Brussels. The two defense leaders exchanged views on the needs to develop the defense cooperation. The issue of enhancing cooperation between the Naval Forces and the Air Forces of both countries was of concern. Taking into account the agreements already reached, there is an interest to cooperate in the sector of defense procurement and defense-industrial cooperation,” said the spokesperson.

According to Hutsuliak, the parties agreed it would be reasonable to discuss areas of defense cooperation more deeply.

The British party is studying the possibility to schedule a visit to Ukraine during the celebration of the Independence Day in Ukraine.

In addition, during the events, the Defense Minister of Ukraine also spoke with Minister of National Defense of Canada Harjit Sajjan.

Poltorak also participated in the meeting of the North Atlantic Council with Georgia and Ukraine in Brussels.
