Ukraine will use Javelin anti-tank missile systems in the area of military operations in Donbas only in case of full-scale offensive of Russian-backed militants.

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said this, speaking at the celebrations on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of creation of the Marine Corps of Ukraine in Mykolayiv, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"The use of Javelin missile systems gives the advantage in defeating the enemy’s armored vehicles, increases the viability of our anti-tank units and reduces the risk of personnel losses. Of course, this purely defensive weaponry, which was provided to Ukraine by the United States of America, will be used only in case of a full-scale offensive of Russian-backed militants and won’t be used to escalate the conflict in Donbas. It will become an additional factor in deterring Russian aggression," the Head of State emphasized.
