JFO: Militants fired artillery near Avdiivka, Pisky, Shyrokyne in eastern Ukraine

Over the past day, the situation in the Joint Force Operation area in eastern Ukraine remained difficult. The intensive fighting continued throughout the contact line.

The units of the joint forces did not allow the enemy to improve its tactical positions, the Joint Forces Operation Headquarters press center reports.

"The tensest situation was observed near Avdiivka (18km north of Donetsk), Pisky (12km north-west of Donetsk), Shyrokyne (20km east of Mariupol). Russian-occupation troops fired artillery and mortars 20 times. Small arms, grenade launchers, weapons on infantry fighting vehicles were used 53 times to shell Ukrainian positions," the report reads.

The units of the joint forces carried out active military operations in the area of Avdiivka industrial zone, the village of Piske, gave an adequate response and destroyed the enemy’s firepower.

According to intelligence, five militants were killed and another seven were wounded just in Avdiivka direction.

During the current day, May 10, the fighting is ongoing in Donetsk and Mariupol directions. No casualties among Ukrainian troops have been reported.
