Militants launched 69 attacks on Ukrainian troops in Donbas in last day

Russian-backed militants launched 69 attacks on positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) area in Donbas over the past day. 

This is reported by the ATO Headquarters press center.

In Donetsk direction, terrorists fired 122mm artillery, 120mm and 82mm mortars, grenade launchers at Ukrainian positions near Lomakyne (15km north-east of Mariupol). The aggressor also used 120mm mortars to shell ATO troops outside Novotroitske (32km south of Donetsk), Vodiane (16km north-west of Donetsk), Hnutove (19km north-west of Mariupol) and Pyshchevyk (25km north-east of Mariupol), 82mm mortars – near Shyrokyne (20km east of Mariupol) and Vodiane. Militants also opened fire from grenade launchers on Ukrainian strongholds near Lebedynske (16km north-east of Mariupol), Talakivka (20km north-west of Mariupol), Avdiivka (18km north of Donetsk), Hnutove, Marinka (35 km south-west of Donetsk) and Pyshchevyk, heavy machine guns – near Pavlopol (30 km northeast of Mariupol), Pervomaiske (23km north-west of Mariupol), Krasnohorivka (29 km west of Donetsk) and Butovka coal mine (11.4km north-west of Donetsk), infantry fighting vehicles – near Vodiane, Pyshchevyk and Hnutove, small arms – outside Kamyanka (62km south of Donetsk), Novomykhailivka (28km south-west of Donetsk), Avdiivka, Talakivka, Marinka and Vodiane. Defenders of Talakivka, Pavlopol and Shyrokune came under sniper fire.

In Luhansk direction, Russian-backed militants shelled Ukrainian positions outside Luhanske (59km north-east of Donetsk), using 122mm artillery, 120mm and 82mm mortars, grenade launchers, heavy machine guns. Illegal armed formations also opened fire from 120mm and 82mm mortars on Ukrainian positions outside Novoluhanske (53km north-east of Donetsk) and Troitske (69km west of Luhansk), 82mm mortars – near Novoselivka, weapons on infantry fighting vehicles – near Troitske and Krymske (42.5km north-west of Luhansk), grenade launchers – outside Valuiske (20km north-east of Luhansk), heavy machine guns – near Stanytsia Luhanska (16km north-east of Luhansk), Novoselivka and Krymske. ATO troops also came under sniper fire in the area of Novhorodske (34km north of Donetsk).

Nine Ukrainian soldiers were wounded and another two were injured.
