Militants launched 44 attacks on Ukrainian troops in Donbas in last day

Russian-backed militants launched 44 attacks on positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) area in Donbas over the past day.

This is reported by the ATO Headquarters press center.

In Donetsk direction, terrorists fired 120mm mortars near Lebedynske (16km north-east of Mariupol), Opytne (11.5km north-west of Donetsk) and Shyrokyne (20km east of Mariupol). The enemy also used tank and 82mm mortars outside Pisky (12km north-west of Donetsk). Russian-backed militants opened fire from 82mm mortars on defenders of Talakivka (20km north-west of Mariupol). Grenade launchers of different systems were used to shell Ukrainian positions outside Avdiivka (18km north of Donetsk), Vodiane (16km north-west of Donetsk), Bohdanivka (41km south-west of Donetsk), Novotroitske (32km south of Donetsk) and Butovka coal mine (11.4km north-west of Donetsk). Ukrainian strongholds near Verkhniotoretske (22km north-east of Donetsk) and Pavlopol (30 km northeast of Mariupol) came under heavy machine gun fire. Militants also used infantry combat vehicles to launch attacks on Ukrainian troops near Hnutove (19km north-west of Mariupol). Ukrainian strongholds outside Butovka coal mine, Kamyanka (62km south of Donetsk), Marinka (35 km south-west of Donetsk) and Krasnohorivka (29 km west of Donetsk) came under small arms fire.

In Luhansk direction, illegal armed formations fired grenade launchers, small arms and heavy machine guns at Ukrainian positions near Novhorodske (34km north of Donetsk). ATO troops outside Troitske (69km west of Luhansk) came under heavy machine gun fire.

As a result of the enemy shelling, one Ukrainian soldier was killed, another one was injured.
