Finland ready to send peacekeepers to Donbas

Finland is essentially ready to join the UN peacekeeping mission in Donbas.

Foreign Minister of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin said this at a joint briefing with Foreign Minister of the Republic of Finland Timo Soini, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"Our Finnish friends are essentially ready to participate in the upcoming peacekeeping operation, but now they have to put pressure on Russia so that it would be a real peacekeeping operation, not an operation to allow Russia legitimizing its protectorate in the occupied territories, freezing the situation there and creating traps in the process of deployment of such an operation," Klimkin said.

He stressed that the fundamental requirement should be deploying peacekeepers in the entire territory of the occupied Donbas, without exception, and also their gradual gaining control over the entire territory.
