This is reported by the press service of the Head of State.
"The parties discussed greater involvement of Sweden as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council in promoting the deployment of the UN peacekeeping mission in the occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions, including the temporarily uncontrolled area of border between Ukraine and Russia," the statement reads.
The President also informed the Swedish Defence Minister about the tense situation in Donbas and ongoing militarization of the temporarily occupied Crimean peninsula.
"Having confirmed Ukraine’s commitment to the peace process, Petro Poroshenko underlined the need to ‘coerce’ Russia into establishing peace primarily by strengthening Ukraine’s defence capability, toughening sanctions and diplomatic pressure on Moscow," the press service reports.
In addition, the parties noted the dynamic intensification of the dialogue between Ukraine and Sweden in the military and political field, in particular given Russia's destabilizing role for the European security system.
