Poroshenko on Javelin systems: Only unity can stop Russian aggression

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko wrote this on his Facebook page on Friday.

"Great news from the United States - Ukraine will get what everyone has been talking about for a long time, but has not confirmed - the Javelin! According to my agreements with the American leadership and thanks to the bipartisan support of the Congress, this becomes a reality. The front of the international defense support of Ukraine is now open!" Poroshenko said.

According to him, this weapon in the hands of the Ukrainian military "will become an additional deterring argument against Russian aggression in Donbas."

Poroshenko also expressed gratitude to U.S. President Donald Trump and the entire team supporting Ukraine for an important historic decision.

The head of state stressed that only unity and solidarity can stop the Russian aggressor and "protect the Free World from [Putin's] maniacal ambitions."

Earlier it was reported that on March 1, the U.S. Department of State approved the proposed sale of the Javelin anti-tank missile systems to Ukraine for $47 million.
