Finnish Defense Minister: Finland, Sweden, Switzerland, Austria and Ireland may send peacekeepers to Donbas
Minister of Defense of Finland Jussi Niinisto said this to journalists during a meeting with Ukrainian Defense Minister Stepan Poltorak, the press service of the Defense Ministry reports.
"Minister of Defense of Finland Jussi Niinisto spoke about the possible participation of the Finnish military personnel in the peacekeeping contingent... It's still too early to say how many representatives of Finland could be deployed," the statement reads.
Finnish minister Niinisto also expressed the conviction that such countries as Sweden, Switzerland, Austria and Ireland, which have the appropriate authority and image in the world, could join the formation of the contingent along with Finland.
According to his estimate, the peacekeeping mission in Donbas may consist of more than 10,000 military personnel.
