Three Ukrainian servicemen were killed and five more were injured as a result of a landmine explosion in the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) zone in eastern Ukraine over the past day.

Ukrainian Defense Ministry's Spokesperson Dmytro Hutsuliak said this at a press briefing on Thursday, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

"Yesterday, one soldier of the Armed Forces was killed as a result of the enemy attacks near Hranitne (57km south of Donetsk). As it was reported yesterday, two servicemen were killed and five more were injured in Luhansk direction after their equipment tripped an anti-tank mine," he said.

Hutsuliak adds that the greatest fire activity of militants was recorded in Donetsk direction. In total, Russian-backed militants launched seven attacks on positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) area in Donbas over the past day.
