Militants fired 120mm mortars on Ukrainian troops in Donbas in last day

Russian-backed militants continued to launch attacks on positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Donbas in last day despite the agreements of the Trilateral Contact Group on ceasefire during the New Year and Christmas holidays.

One Ukrainian serviceman was wounded as a result of the enemy shelling. He was immediately taken to a hospital and provided with the necessary medical care, the ATO Headquarters press center reported.

As noted, in Luhansk direction, militants fired 120mm mortars on Ukrainian strongholds outside Svitlodarsk (55km north-west of Donetsk) and Luhanske (59km north-east of Donetsk).

In Donetsk direction, ATO troops came under grenade launcher, small arms and 82mm mortar fire outside Butovka coal mine (11.4km north-west of Donetsk).

Ukrainian troops did not return fire.
