OSCE records the largest number of ceasefire violations since March 2017

The OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine (OSCE SMM) has recorded a significant deterioration of the security situation in eastern Ukraine.

First Deputy Head of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine Alexander Hug said this at a briefing, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"Over 3,000 violations of the ceasefire regime were recorded by our observers during the last monitoring. This is 25% more than in the previous two weeks, and this is the largest number of violations since March of 2017," Hug said.

According to him, the vast majority of recorded ceasefire violations were concentrated in Yasynuvata area in Donetsk region. 

As Ukrinform reported, OSCE observers recorded nearly 20,000 ceasefire violations in eastern Ukraine from November 27 to December 10, 2017, according to a status report of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine (OSCE SMM) as of December 13.
