Since the beginning of the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) in eastern Ukraine, combat engineers of the Ukrainian Armed Forces have disposed over 175,000 explosive devices and cleared over 1,150 kilometers of roads and 3,576 hectares of territory in Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

Ukrainian Defense Ministry’s Spokesperson for ATO Oleksandr Motuzianyk informed this at a press briefing on Thursday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“Since the start of ATO, combat engineers of the Ukrainian Armed Forces have disposed over 175,000 mines and explosive devices and cleared 1,150 kilometers of roads and 3,576 hectares of land from explosive devices in Donetsk and Luhansk regions,” Motuzianyk said.

He also noted that during last week’s mine clearance operations in the ATO zone, military sappers cleared from mines almost 9 kilometers of roads and almost 8 hectares of land, having disposed about 500 explosive objects.
