Cooperation between the Ukrainian army and the military units of the NATO member states should be strengthened, President Petro Poroshenko has said.

He stated this while speaking to the military during his working visit to Mariupol on Thursday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"I demand further intensification of international cooperation, negotiations on further improvement of the skills of military personnel and achievement of mutual compatibility of our units with the units of NATO member states," Poroshenko said.

According to him, it is necessary to actively cooperate with foreign partners, borrow their best experience, using the assistance of military instructors from the United States, the United Kingdom and other countries of the North Atlantic Alliance.

"By the way, many of our foreign colleagues are already learning from us, both from marines and from servicemen of other branches of the Armed Forces, learning what military life has taught us," he said.
