Defense Ministry’s budget for 2017 totals almost UAH 70 bln

The Defense Ministry received a budget of UAH 69 billion for 2017, which is 22% more than in 2016, Deputy Director of Defense Ministry’s financial department Serhiy Halimskyi has said.

“For 2017, we received UAH 69 billion, which is 22% more than in the previous year. A total of UAH 35.2 billion will be used for financial payments, the remaining UAH 33.8 billion - for technical support and training of troops,” he said at a press briefing on September 12, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

According to Halimskyi, the Defense Ministry has already received UAH 39.9 billion over the first eight months of the current year, which corresponds to the plan.

He also informed that the amount of payments for military rank and official salaries will be raised from January 1, 2018. In particular, the relevant resolution has already been developed by the Defense Ministry jointly with other law enforcement agencies. Under this resolution, official salaries and salaries for the military rank for military personnel will depend on the amount of subsistence minimum.
