Poroshenko: Increase in military spending is right response to Russian aggression

The only right response to the Russian military threat is to increase military spending of Ukraine.
President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said this at the Regional Development Council meeting in Kyiv on Monday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
"The main thing is the Russian military threat. It happens not only in the occupied regions of Donbas, it hangs across the entire border with Russia. There is only one right response to this challenge. At the beginning of 2014, the military spending amounted to 1% of GDP. In 2016, we brought these costs up to 3.2% by our joint efforts, and it is possible that this percentage will have to be increased. As for the overall defense and security spending, it has already exceeded 5% of the gross domestic product," Poroshenko said.
