President: 280,000 Ukrainians have already participated in ATO

About 280,000 Ukrainians have participated in the fighting in eastern Ukraine for two and a half years. Of them, more than 10,000 have been awarded state awards, 33 have been awarded the title of the Hero of Ukraine.
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said this while delivering the speech on occasion of the Day of the Defender of Ukraine, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
"The main in the war is not money, technique, weapons, but people, Ukrainian soldiers. About 280,000 Ukrainians have participated in the anti-terrorist operation in Donbas for two and a half years. Of them, 266,000 have received the combatant status. More than 10,000 servicepersons have been awarded state awards, 33 Ukrainian veterans have been awarded the title of the Hero of Ukraine," Poroshenko said.
