Poroshenko: Ukrainian Armed Forces are main guarantor of independence

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has stressed in his congratulatory speech on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the independence of Ukraine that the Ukrainian army is the main guarantor of the independence of the country.

"The Armed Forces of Ukraine are our main guarantor, and this is much more serious than the Budapest Memorandum!" he said, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

Poroshenko noted that three-quarters of the Ukrainian army personnel were contract soldiers.

 "As of today, 75% of the Ukrainian army are contract soldiers," the Head of State said.

The President added that the current military reserve of our country was more than 80,000 soldiers, both men and women.
