The current situation in the area of conduct of the antiterrorist operation gives no hope for future peace in Donbas.

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said this on the occasion of the second anniversary of establishment of the General Kulchytsky battalion in Kyiv on Wednesday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"The situation on the frontline is tense. Fighting near the industrial zone near Avdiyivka [Donetsk region] and concentration of the armed enemy formations together with the tanks and artillery give us no reasons to hope for future peaceful developments," he said.

The Head of State stressed that now the country and the army were not the same as two years ago.

"We have completely different Armed Forces, having a huge combat experience and victories. We have new equipment, means of communication, experienced intelligence," the President stressed.
