Poroshenko informs U.S. Vice President on situation in Donbas

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko in a phone conversation with U.S. Vice President Joe Biden has informed about escalation in Donbas, especially near the town of Mariynka, in particular, on the increase in shelling and usage of multiple-launch rocket systems by the Russia-backed militants, the president’s press service reports.

Vice President Biden condemned the worsening of the security situation and assured of Washington's permanent position of support for territorial integrity of Ukraine.

Petro Poroshenko also underlined that the Ukrainian parliament had adopted visa-free laws, in particular, regarding the fight against corruption.

“The sides also agreed on the importance of further carrying out reforms in Ukraine in the scope of cooperation with the International Monetary Fund and other international financial institutions,” the president’s press service said.
