Canada begins new training courses for Ukrainian troops

A total of 200 Canadian military instructors who arrived back in January to Ukraine to replace colleagues, have started a new training course for Ukrainian servicemen under the operation UNIFIER.

A representative from the Canada Ministry of Defense told the Ukrinform’s own Canadian correspondent.

"Everything that is taught during a training course is helpful in transforming the Armed Forces of Ukraine. At the tactical level Ukrainian military study new techniques that will allow them to interact with Western countries. Foreign instructors make attempts to determine the essential institutional changes that will ensure ongoing trainings and make Ukrainian military structure and methods of troop’s operations compatible with those used by the allies," the representative at the Defense Ministry said.

The military officials added that a military training operation UNIFIER is part of a broader Canadian aid program to Ukraine that includes humanitarian aid and assistance in developing democratization and resolving security issues. "Within the coming months, Canadian military will witness change and reorientation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine," Canadian Defense Ministry representative noted.
