Ukrinform
In Kyiv, the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) detained an agent of Russia's FSB who had been organizing arson attacks on vehicles belonging to the Defense Forces in the capital.

According to Ukrinform, the SSU stated this on its website.

The investigation established that the suspect searched for potential perpetrators of sabotage, recruited them, and coordinated their subversive activities.

In March of this year, SSU officers caught two enemy agents "red-handed," who were supervised by this individual and, on his instructions, carried out arson attacks on cars in the Desnianskyi district of the capital.

The coordinator of the arsonists turned out to be a mobilized serviceman who had deserted his unit in the Kharkiv region and fled to the capital, where he began working for Russia.

He came to the attention of Russian intelligence services while searching Telegram channels for quick money.

"After recruitment, he began involving local drug addicts to work for the FSB, who agreed to commit contract arsons for sums sufficient to buy a dose. Before the crime, they coordinated the target with the resident, and after the arson, they sent him photos and videos of the fire. He then reported to his FSB handler via messenger," the SSU said.

SSU officers documented the crimes of the resident of the agent network and detained him at his place of residence in Kyiv.

During searches, a smartphone containing evidence of cooperation with the FSB was seized from the detainee.

SSU investigators notified him of suspicion under Part 1 of Article 114-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (obstruction of the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations).

The suspect is currently in custody and faces up to 8 years in prison.

As Ukrinform reported, the Security Service of Ukraine, together with the National Police, also detained a young man in Lutsk who had been recruited by Russian special services to commit arson.
