Shooting in Kyiv leaves several killed, child among injured — mayor

A shooting in Kyiv has left several people dead, with a child among the injured.

According to the city's mayor, Vitali Klitschko, cited by Ukrinform, the incident occurred in the Holosiivskyi District.

"Among those wounded on the street in the Holosiivskyi district is a child. Medics are transporting the child to a hospital. Adult victims are being examined and treated on site," Klitschko said.

He added that a special police operation is underway to detain the suspect, who is currently inside a supermarket.

Later, Vitali Klitschko reported that two people are confirmed dead following the shooting in Kyiv.

Five people injured in the attack have been hospitalized in the city, including one child.

Among the wounded is also a security guard from the supermarket where the shooter forced his way in and is currently located.

As previously reported, an unknown individual opened fire on people in the Holosiivskyi District, and police are conducting a special operation to detain the attacker.

According to police information, one person was killed and several others were injured. The exact number of victims is still being clarified.
