Former head of Mykolaiv MSEC exposed for corruption, donates 4.7 million hryvnias to AFU, reaches plea agreement

The former head of the Mykolaiv Regional Medical and Social Expert Commission, who was exposed in corruption schemes, transferred over 4.7 million hryvnias to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine and entered into a plea agreement with the prosecutor’s office.

According to Ukrinform, the press service of the Central District Court of Mykolaiv reported this on Telegram.

At a court hearing in the criminal proceedings against the former acting chief physician of the Mykolaiv Regional Council’s Regional Center for Medical and Social Expertise, who was charged with committing criminal offenses under Part 1 of Article 114-1, Part 3 of Article 27, Part 2 of Article 28, Part 1 of Article 366, Part 1 of Article 366-2, and Part 2 of Article 366-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, the prosecutor read the indictment.

According to the indictment, the defendant organized the preparation of a false MSEC conclusion regarding a conscript, as a result of which he was assigned a III disability group, entitling him to a deferment from conscription.

In addition, the woman is charged with making false declarations.

The prosecutor also announced a plea agreement, under which the defendant pleads guilty, agrees to cooperate with the investigation in another criminal proceeding, and accepts a sentence of five years’ imprisonment with a probationary period to be determined by the court. She is also to be barred from holding administrative and managerial positions in healthcare facilities for three years.

In turn, the attorney requested that a receipt for a charitable donation of 4,737,860 UAH made by his client to a military unit be added to the case file.

The parties asked the court to approve the plea agreement, and the defense lawyer also urged the court to impose a minimum probationary period of one year.

The court took a recess to deliberate.

As reported, the SSU exposed the head of the Mykolaiv Regional Medical and Social Examination Commission for corruption schemes involving draft dodgers. During searches, authorities found over $450,000, a collection of jewelry, and her son’s Russian passport in her possession.
