Air Force soldier caught stealing equipment used to protect skies over Kyiv region

The State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) has caught the commander of a platoon in one of the Ukrainian Air Force units stealing and selling equipment intended for combat duty and protecting the airspace of the Kyiv region.

According to Ukrinform, the SBI reported this.

Among the appropriated items were desktop computers, monitors of various sizes, and tablets with mobile internet access. Mobile groups were supposed to use this equipment to repel enemy attacks.

The serviceman was charged under Part 4 of Article 410 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (misappropriation of military property by abusing his official position under martial law).

The suspect faces up to 15 years behind bars.

The bureau foiled the illegal actions in cooperation with the Security Service of Ukraine.

As reported by Ukrinform, the commander of logistics of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the head of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Zhytomyr region were involved in corruption during the construction of aircraft shelters.
