SBU detains Kyiv resident who publicly shared air defense activity during Russian attack
The SBU said this in a statement seen by Ukrinform.
The Kyiv resident posted videos on social media showing the operation of air defense systems in Kyiv.
Living on the top floor of an apartment building, the man used his phone camera to record the locations of air defense units engaging Russian aerial targets.
He then published the footage in a Telegram group chat and on the Instagram page of his business, which has a combined audience of more than 13,000 followers.
As a result, the enemy could have used the "exposed" geolocations of the Ukrainian Defense Forces to prepare new strikes on Kyiv.
An examination initiated by the SBU confirmed the facts of the suspect's illegal activities.
During searches at the man's place of residence, officers seized a smartphone containing evidence of unauthorized filming and dissemination of defense-related information.
SBU investigators have notified the suspect of charges under Part 2 of Article 114-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (unauthorized dissemination of information about the deployment of the Ukrainian Armed Forces or other military formations established in accordance with Ukrainian law, committed under martial law).
The investigation is ongoing to establish all the circumstances of the crime. The suspect faces up to eight years in prison.
The Security Service of Ukraine once again emphasizes that filming and publishing video and photo materials about the activities of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, as well as the consequences of Russian shelling, is prohibited.
The dissemination of such information is regarded as aiding enemy fire adjustment and constitutes a criminal offense punishable by law.
As was earlier reported, two people were killed and 32 others injured, including two children, in Russia's massive attack on Kyiv on December 27.
