Terrorist attack in Kyiv’s Darnytskyi district: Three suspects detained
This was reported by the Communications Department of the Kyiv Police, according to Ukrinform.
“…Law enforcement officers… established that three men aged 23, 25, and 27 — residents of different regions who had come to the capital ‘to earn money’ — were involved in the terrorist act,” the statement reads.
Police officers and SSU personnel, with tactical support from the Rapid Operational Response Unit (KORD), detained the suspects in a rented apartment in the capital and seized physical evidence indicating their involvement in the crime.
According to the Head of the Kyiv Police, Dmytro Shumeiko, one of the suspects received an “assignment” in a messenger app from a so-called handler from the Russian Federation to carry out a terrorist attack in the capital in exchange for payment.

“The perpetrators manufactured improvised explosive devices and, under instructions from hostile intelligence services, concealed them in rubbish along the patrol route of law enforcement officers, and also placed mobile phones nearby that streamed live video. When a National Guard patrol approached the trap set by the criminals, an explosion occurred, killing one of them and injuring another. A construction site guard who happened to be nearby was also injured. When police officers and medics arrived at the scene, a second explosion occurred, injuring two patrol police officers. They are currently in a hospital,” Shumeiko stated.

The SSU is conducting the pre-trial investigation under Part 3 of Article 258 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — a terrorist act that resulted in loss of life. The article provides for a sentence of life imprisonment. The Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office carries out procedural supervision.
As reported, on December 11, two explosions occurred in Kyiv’s Darnytskyi district, killing a National Guard service member and injuring four people.
