Russian intel actively trying to recruit Ukrainians living in Europe - HUR
That’s according to the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine’s Defense Ministry (HUR), Ukrinform reports.
Potential perpetrators are offered rewards for taking part in illegal activities, conducting surveillance of critical infrastructure facilities, and performing other tasks.
These are mainly displaced Ukrainians originally from temporarily occupied territories who found themselves in a difficult situation.
As emphasized by the HUR agency, recruiting Ukrainians for malign operations abroad is yet another tool of hybrid aggression Russia is waging against Ukraine and the entire European community.
The HUR urged Ukrainians abroad to immediately report to their host country’s law enforcement or Ukrainian diplomats in case Russian agents approach them.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, nearly 50 Ukrainian children reported to law enforcement agencies the attempts by Russians to recruit them for setting on fire military vehicles, administrative buildings, civilian and critical infrastructure facilities, as well as to collect various information for a reward.
