HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) and the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) neutralised a large international criminal group that was smuggling counterfeit cigarettes into the EU.

The British Embassy in Ukraine said this in a report on Facebook.

"HM Revenue & Customs in the UK and the Security Service of Ukraine neutralised one of the largest international criminal organisations, which has been smuggling counterfeit cigarettes into the EU. We continue to strengthen bilateral cooperation between our law enforcement agencies and work together across the borders to combat organised crime," reads the report.

At the same time, the embassy does not specify the details of the special operation.
