Ukrinform
Ukraine's SBU Security Service has exposed a group of hackers who were preparing for cyberattacks on the computer systems of Ukrainian government agencies during the March 31 presidential election, the SBU's press center has reported.

"Law enforcers established that a local resident, along with his accomplices from the Russian Federation, attacked the automated systems of government bodies to compromise them during the preparation and conduct of the presidential election in Ukraine. The culprits used programs with viruses that help remotely gain control over the computers of government agencies," the statement said.

For illegal actions the hacker received money through the payment systems of the aggressor country.

During a search of the culprit's premises, law enforcement officers found computer equipment used for illegal activities.

The investigation is ongoing as part of a criminal proceeding opened under Part 2 of Article 361 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine to bring to account other persons involved in the organization of hacker attacks. Measures to expose culprits were conducted jointly with the police under the procedural control of the prosecutor's office.
