SBU detains militant of DPR terrorist organization

"Operatives of the special service established that a resident of the region joined the ranks of the terrorist organization DPR in July 2014 and entered into an illegal armed formation of militants of the so-called Vostok battalion. The culprit took an active part in the fighting against the anti-terrorist operation forces on the territory of Donetsk and Luhansk regions," reads the report.

At the beginning of the year, the militant left the DPR terrorist organization and moved to Russia. SBU employees detained the culprit in a village in Kirovohrad region, where he arrived to visit his relatives.

The militant was served with a notice of suspicion in committing a crime envisaged in Part 1 of Article 258-3 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, and the preventive measure in the form of detention was chosen.

Investigative actions are ongoing.
