Ancient icon stolen from Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra monastery

Police in Kyiv are investigating the theft of an ancient icon of Saint George from the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra monastery, a press officer of the Pechersk district police department, Oksana Tyshchenko, has told Ukrinform.
"We received such a statement yesterday. An investigative and operational group went to the scene. Criminal proceedings were opened under Part 1 of Article 185 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (theft)," Tyshchenko said.
According to her, the police are currently conducting operative and search measures to identify persons involved in this offense, as well as studying recordings from video surveillance cameras.
