Italian law enforcement officers have discovered near the port of Crotone a Ukrainian yacht with more than 70 illegal migrants on board transported from Turkey, the Ukrainian State Border Guard Service has reported.

"Having received another report about the possible participation of Ukrainian citizens in illegal actions on the movement of migrants by sea, operational officers of the Azov-Black Sea Regional Directorate immediately warned European colleagues. As a result, Italian law enforcement officers discovered a yacht with illegal migrants near the port of Crotone on July 3. There were 71 citizens, including eight women and 15 children, on board the vessel. They were transported from Turkey," the report says.

It notes that the vessel, although flying the flag of Germany, actually departed from a port in Mykolaiv region under the flag of Ukraine.
