Avakov calls on business representatives to help in fight against smuggling at customs

Ukrainian law enforcers expect that the Ukrainian business representatives will assist in the fight against smuggling at customs.

Interior Minister Arsen Avakov stated this on Friday, June 22, during a meeting with business representatives, the press service of the Interior Ministry reports.

"Today we held a joint meeting with the Finance Ministry and the State Fiscal Service. We aim at the interaction of law enforcement agencies with business associations in the process of changing the system of control over customs clearance. We are talking about smuggling flows that bring damage the state in the amount of over UAH 100 billion, according to our estimates,” Avakov said.

He also stressed that law enforcement agencies will not interfere with the activities of honest business.

"We hope for business support in the fight against smuggling and we also plan to develop a feedback mechanism," the interior minister added.
