"The National Police has solved both attacks on the Transcarpathian Hungarian Cultural Association in Uzhgorod. Five people have been detained, and a likely organizer, a foreign national, is on the wanted list," he wrote.
He said that operatives had detained three people involved in the attack on the KMKSZ office on February 27. One of them was detained in Cherkasy and two others in Kropyvnytsky. A likely organizer of these attacks has been identified and put on the wanted list, he added.
Earlier, police officers in Zakarpattia region identified Polish citizens involved in an arson attack on the association on February 4. Polish police detained them in Warsaw. A Polish court ruled to detain them for 90 days.
"Now, with the support of the Prosecutor General's Office, we are resolving the issue of questioning the detainees," Kniazev said.
On February 27, another attempt was made to set fire to the office of the Transcarpathian Hungarian Cultural Association in Uzhgorod. As a result, the building burned out from the inside. Zakarpattia regional police opened criminal proceedings under Part 2, Article 194 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (deliberate destruction or damage to property committed by arson).
In early February 2018, there was an attempt to set fire to the KMKSZ office in Uzhgorod. Then the building was not damaged.
