Ukrainian border guards stop 1.5 thousand tobacco smuggling attempts in 2016

The Ukrainian border guards prevented 1.5 thousand attempts of cigarette smuggling in 2016, the press service of the State Border Service reports.
“Employees of the State Border Service during the past year prevented over 1.5 thousand attempts of tobacco smuggling, mostly on the border with the EU, and arrested over 5.5 million packs of cigarettes,” reads a report.
Also, the State Border Service found 1.8 million packs of smuggled cigarettes at 24 storage facilities in logistical areas.
