According to Ukrinform, Indian Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal reported the incident on X.

"India strongly condemns this unprovoked attack on the defenseless mechanised sailing vessel," the minister said.

According to Sonowal, all 14 crew members, including 13 Indian nationals, were rescued safely. The Yemeni Coast Guard evacuated the sailors and transported them to the port of Mocha.

"I have instructed the Director General Maritime Administration (DGMA) to take immediate steps in coordination with all agencies to ensure the absolute security of Indian seafarers in the region and provide all necessary assistance to the rescued crew," Sonowal said.

The minister did not specify who carried out the attack or what type of weapon was used.

As Ukrinform previously reported, the Iran-backed Houthi movement in Yemen claimed on July 23 that it had attacked two Saudi oil tankers in the Red Sea that it said were attempting to violate its declared maritime blockade of Saudi Arabia.
