August 5 declared day of mourning in Sumy community after guided bomb strikes
The Sumy community has declared August 5 a day of mourning for those killed in Russian guided aerial bomb strikes.

The Sumy City Council reported this on Telegram, according to Ukrinform.

"August 5 is a day of mourning in the Sumy community. Overnight, the enemy carried out six strikes on Sumy with guided aerial bombs. Three civilians were killed: two girls aged five and 10, and a 76-year-old woman," the statement said.

Earlier reports said that according to investigators from the Sumy Regional Prosecutor's Office, Russian forces attacked the city of Sumy with six guided aerial bombs between 02:08 and 02:17 on August 4, 2026. Civilian infrastructure was hit. One of the bombs struck a residential area, killing three people and injuring four others: women aged 32, 42 and 69, and a 31-year-old man. Two residential buildings and a building belonging to a children's and youth sports school were destroyed, while an administrative building and a garage cooperative were damaged.
