Ukrainian air defenses neutralize 212 of 229 Russian drones overnight
The Ukrainian Air Force reported this on Telegram, according to Ukrinform.
Russian forces launched 229 drones of various types from 18:00 on May 30, including Shahed attack drones, among them jet-powered ones, as well as Gerbera, Italmas, and Parodiya decoy UAVs.
The drones were launched from areas near Oryol, Kursk, Bryansk, Millerovo, Shatalovo, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia, as well as Hvardiiske in temporarily occupied Crimea.
The attack was countered by Ukrainian aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare and unmanned systems units, and mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
According to preliminary data, as of 08:30 on May 31, Ukrainian air defenses had shot down or suppressed 212 Russian drones of various types, including Shahed, Gerbera, and Italmas UAVs, over eastern and northern Ukraine.
Hits by 14 enemy strike drones were recorded at 11 locations, while debris from intercepted targets fell at five other sites.
The Ukrainian Air Force stressed that the attack was still ongoing, with several Russian drones remaining in Ukrainian airspace.
