Russia uses ships to launch cruise missiles only once over past month – Pletenchuk

As of now, there are no enemy ships in the waters of the Black and Azov Seas. Over the past month, Russia used ships only once to launch cruise missiles at Ukrainian territory.

According to Ukrinform, this was stated on television by the spokesperson for the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Dmytro Pletenchuk.

"In fact, over the past month, these were essentially the only launches involving sea-based cruise missile carriers. For example, as of now, the enemy is not keeping any ships at sea at all. The same was true before. Even during attacks, it is basically a matter of going out to sea for a few hours in order to complicate Ukrainian air defense during a massive combined strike. So yes, I can say that the situation in the Azov-Black Sea region remains fairly stable," Pletenchuk said.

At the same time, he noted that enemy aviation activity remains quite high, as the Russians are using it as an air defense tool.

Responding to a question about increased Defense Forces attacks on temporarily occupied Crimea, Pletenchuk noted that many things remain behind the scenes.

"In reality, many things remain behind the scenes, but nevertheless, the work is indeed ongoing and takes place practically every day, especially at night. Indeed, local public channels show the corresponding reaction of the local population. In fact, many of these things are quite difficult to verify through ordinary citizens with phones, because the facilities are located far away and are closed off. But there are results, and the work continues and will continue in the future," the spokesperson said.

He also reminded that Crimean residents are now facing many questions regarding logistics.

"As you can see, the route connecting Rostov-on-Don with our Dzhankoi, which is now effectively the main logistical route, as well as the railway, has come under fairly heavy strikes from the Ukrainian Defense Forces. And this, of course, can affect both morale and supplies. At the very least, fuel shortages in Crimea are once again noticeable," the spokesperson said.

As Ukrinform reported, explosions were heard in temporarily occupied Crimea and Sevastopol on the night of May 27, and reports claimed that the headquarters of Russia's Black Sea Fleet had been hit.
