Russia’s massive overnight attack leaves damage at more than 40 locations in Kyiv – DSNS

More than 40 locations in Kyiv were damaged as a result of Russia’s massive overnight missile-and-drone attack on May 24. 

According to Ukrinfrom, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine stated this on Telegram.

Firefighters continue working at the sites of Russian combined strikes targeting civilian infrastructure and residential buildings across the capital.

Emergency calls reported fires and destruction at more than 40 locations in every district of Kyiv.

In the Shevchenkivskyi District, Russian forces struck a five-story residential building. The attack caused structural destruction and a fire from the first to the fifth floors. One person was found dead, while three others were injured. Firefighting operations were ongoing.

In the Darnytskyi District, the roof of a two-story dormitory residential building caught fire over an area of approximately 250 square meters. Destruction covered another 100 square meters. Ten people were evacuated, 12 were rescued, and five people were hospitalized. The fire was localized, but response operations were continuing.

In the Desnianskyi District, a fire broke out in a hangar, with five separate fire centers damaging vehicles across a total area of 100 square meters. Another fire occurred on the territory of a garage cooperative over an area of 80 square meters and was later extinguished.

In the Obolonskyi District, a strike hit a business center building, causing a fire from the third to the fifth floors. Firefighting efforts were ongoing.

In the Holosiivskyi District, firefighters extinguished a blaze at a tennis court covering 100 square meters. The operation was complicated by the presence of the warhead of an enemy munition, requiring the involvement of an explosive ordnance disposal team.

As a result of the attack, 21 people were injured and one person was confirmed dead.

The State Emergency Service said information on the ongoing response and damage assessment continues to be updated.
