Russian drone strikes funeral procession in Sumy, causing injuries

On Saturday, May 23, a Russian drone struck a funeral procession on the outskirts of Sumy, leaving several people injured.

Oleh Hryhorov, head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, reported this on Telegram, according to Ukrinform.

“A cynical attack. Today, a Russian drone attacked a funeral procession on the outskirts of Sumy. People were injured,”  Hryhorov wrote.

According to him, all the injured are receiving the necessary medical care. Preliminary data indicates that one person is in critical condition.

As clarified by Serhii Kryvosheyko, head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, the attack was carried out by an FPV drone, likely targeting fiber-optic cables. The strike hit a funeral procession heading to one of the city’s cemeteries.

The drone struck the roadway near a bus, injuring four people.

All of the victims have been transported to medical facilities.

As reported by Ukrinform, 13 civilians were injured in the Sumy region over the past day due to Russian aggression.
