War update: 242 clashes on front lines over past day, three sectors most active
The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces said this in its morning update published on Facebook, Ukrinform reports.
Russia launched 112 airstrikes, dropping 316 guided aerial bombs. In addition, Russian forces deployed 8,065 kamikaze drones and carried out 2,716 attacks on Ukrainian military positions and populated areas, including 104 strikes using multiple launch rocket systems.
Russian airstrikes targeted, among other areas, the settlements of Vilna Sloboda and Ulanove in the Sumy region.
Over the past 24 hours, Ukrainian aviation, missile forces and artillery struck seven Russian troop concentration areas and one UAV command post.
In the Northern Slobozhanshchyna and Kursk sectors, Russian forces carried out seven airstrikes using 14 guided bombs, launched 95 attacks on Ukrainian positions and settlements, including six with MLRS systems, and conducted five assault operations.
In the Southern Slobozhanshchyna sector, Russian troops launched 13 attacks near Vovchanski Khutory, Prylipky, Dvorichanske, Starytsia and Veterynarne, as well as toward Izbytske, Zybyne, Ternova, Okhrimivka and Kolodiazne.
In the Kupiansk sector, Russian forces launched two attacks toward Petropavlivka and Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi.
In the Lyman sector, Russian troops made eight attempts to break through Ukrainian defenses, attacking toward Lyman, Yampil, Drobysheve and Zarichne.
In the Sloviansk sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled three Russian assaults toward Rai-Oleksandrivka, Zakitne and Mykolaivka.
No offensive operations were recorded in the Kramatorsk sector.
In the Kostiantynivka sector, Russian troops carried out 22 attacks near Kostiantynivka, Ivanopillia, Illinivka, Rusyn Yar, Toretske, Shakhove and Sofiivka, as well as toward Vilne and Kucheriv Yar.
The Pokrovsk sector remained one of the most intense areas of fighting, with Ukrainian forces stopping 32 Russian assault attempts near Rodynske, Novooleksandrivka, Hryshyne, Udachne, Molodetske, Sukhetske, Ivanivka and Nove Shakhove, as well as toward Myrne, Bilytske, Serhiivka and Novopavlivka.
No offensive actions were reported in the Oleksandrivka sector.
In the Huliaipole sector, Russian forces carried out 24 attacks near Zlahoda, Varvarivka, Dobropillia and Olenokostiantynivka, as well as toward Nove Zaporizhzhia, Vozdvyzhivka, Staroukrainka, Zaliznychne, Huliaipilske and Charivne.
In the Orikhiv sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled two Russian attempts to advance near Bilohiria and Stepnohirsk.
In the Dnipro River sector, Russian troops launched three attacks toward Antonivka.
No signs of Russian offensive group formations were detected in the Volyn and Polissia sectors.
