Ukrainian National Guard breaks through Russian defense line near Vovchansk

Fighters of the “R.U.G” assault regiment of the second corps of the National Guard of Ukraine Khartiia crossed the line of combat engagement and cleared the forward edge of Russian defenses during an assault operation in the Vovchansk area.
The regiment announced this on Facebook, Ukrinform reports.
“In April-May 2026, fighters of the 23rd Assault Regiment ‘R.U.G’ of the 2nd Corps of the National Guard of Ukraine Khartii’ conducted an assault operation in the Vovchansk area, during which assault groups crossed the line of combat engagement and carried out a clearing operation of the enemy’s forward defensive positions to the depth of a company stronghold,” the statement said.
As reported by Ukrinform, over the past day in the South Slobozhanshchyna sector, Russian forces launched 15 attacks near Prylipka, Vovchansk, Lyman, and Starytsia, as well as toward Izbytske, Chaikivka, and Ternova.
